SOLD OUT
Chamber Rock has risen in DFW and swings full force in Poppy Xander’s first full band release, Little Ghosts with two shows in DFW: May 15 at The Abbey Underground (Denton, TX) with Bone Doggie and the Hickory Street Hellraisers and Reinventing Jude; May 30th at the Crown and Harp (Dallas, TX) with Paul Slavens of KXT and Magnatite, a three piece instrumental funk fusion band. 100 signed and numbered copies of the album will be available at the shows and the album will hit digital markets June 1, 2015.
From torch songs to oom-pah pah, the album is a mesmerizing mix of comedy and tragedy. It features a wide variety of instruments from an accordion style Hohner keyboard to tuba, glockenspiel, and violin. The first single and title track Little Ghosts, will be released this spring with a stop motion animation music video created by Poppy Xander and Jeff Skele, that tells the story of the lonely Bernice and her “little ghosts.” The album comes as a follow up to Xander’s 2014 solo release Snake in the Grass.
The four piece chamber rock ensemble consists of Poppy Xander, top hat and all, on piano and vocals, Jeff Murder, the tatted up Tuba player, Sharla Franklin with her glitter covered violin, and with a mane of red curls, Chelsey Danielle on drums. Poppy Xander and her band closed out Deep Ellum Arts Festival and were considered one of the top acts to see by the Music Enthusiast.
